Our client is a well-established practice that’s looking for an Architect (registered or eligible for ARBV Registration in Victoria) to join its Melbourne Studio. You would be joining an award winning and employee-owned architectural and heritage consultancy practice with a strong commitment to quality. They work on some of the finest buildings from meticulous heritage and conservation schemes to bold contemporary design, creating thoughtful architecture that enhances its context.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The aim of this full-time, permanent role is to assist in the effective delivery of projects, either as project leader or project runner, in collaboration with wider team. The role requires a demonstrated ability to work effectively, focused and either individually or collaboratively in a team environment.

The Studio has a wide range of projects including places of worship, regeneration, infrastructure and public buildings. They are after a results driven, tenacious, go getter to take on managing a mixture of bespoke conservation, heritage advisory and architectural projects whilst also supporting business development. The role also involves supporting the management, attendance and delivery of projects located in south-east Australia and is integral to the development and management of client relationships.

Ideally, you will have a minimum 2 years professional experience working in the capacity of a project architect in Australia, responsible for successful running of a scale of projects, principally being the place-making, activation or refurbishment of exiting (heritage) buildings. You will be able to demonstrate your ability to fulfil the role of a project architect, and your ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.

MAIN DUTIES:

Key elements of the role include:

  • Analysis and advice upon existing (heritage) buildings or settings and applicable planning, heritage or building controls;
  • Ability to lead and guide the development of design, the resolution of technical details and the production of construction documents;
  • Leadership, co-ordination, support or leadership of team members, consultants, programme, design, documentation, permits, tender and construction phases of work;
  • Client and statutory authority liaison and stakeholder management, and;
  • Willingness to evolve through career development, mentoring and sharing of knowledge.

OTHER AREAS THE POSITION WILL NEED TO COVER INCLUDE:

It would also be an advantage if candidates possess:

  • Excellent and effective written, graphic, verbal presentation and communications skills;
  • Advanced skills in AutoDesk (AutoCAD and/or REVIT), Sketchup, Adobe (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat), and Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word and Project) computer software;
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated ability in, the application of key regulatory and statutory requirements of Built Heritage, DDA and OH&S Legislation and Guidelines, National Construction Code, Australian Standards;
  • Excellent time management, delegation, collaborative and/or independent working and organisational skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to complete projects to a consistent high standard, prioritise workloads and conflicting requirements in order to satisfy concurrent project deliverables, budgets and programme;
  • Hands on experience, down to earth, 'can do' attitude, and;
  • Contributing to the development of the team and Australia studios.
