Recruiter Name Margarida Araujo

Our client is an AJ100 practice in south London, currently seeking a construction professional- either a registered architect, architectural assistant or architectural technician with 5-10 years Stage 4/5 project experience to join their technical services team.  This team is key to the success of the practice, working under the supervision of their Director of Legal and Technical Services. It provides essential support to their designers working in their studios, providing a range of job running, technical, procedural and legal advice.

To respond to a change in the technical services team’s resources, they are seeking someone with project running and/or project delivery experience to join the team.

The team’s collective responsibilities include:

  • Providing their designers with advice regarding regulations, standards, construction and materials
  • Assisting their designers with their specification writing and information management
  • Undertaking technical research to support the innovation of the design teams
  • Undertaking project reviews to support their project design and project management
  • Presenting in-house CPD seminars to assist with upskilling the design teams on technical and regulatory matters.
  • Supporting their job runners to manage their projects efficiently and effectively
  • Implementing and maintaining their quality and risk management procedures
  • Negotiating and agreeing their project appointments and services
  • Liaising with their professional indemnity insurer (non-contentious and contentious matters)
  • Providing liability advice and managing professional negligence claims
  • Curating their programme of CPD seminars and knowledge sharing

The technical team works closely with the other in-house support teams, in particular the BIM team, Sustainability Group, Knowledge Group and Future Technologies Group. The technical team also works with external organisations including the RIBA, ATLG and NBS and other industry organisations, including technical representatives from other architectural practices.

They are looking for an individual to join the team who has demonstrable experience and understanding of the practical aspects of architectural design, detailing and specification. Someone who is approachable, an engaging communicator and has enthusiasm to share their knowledge and experience with our designers in a constructive and collaborative way.

The day-to-day role involves working closely with the designers and project runners to support and assist them with the technical design and specification of their projects, including responding to technical queries, undertaking specification reviews, participating in construction detailing workshops and undertaking technical research in connection with these tasks. An enthusiasm for knowledge sharing and mentoring is essential to support the dissemination of good practice in respect of technical design and specification writing across their studios.

The role also includes supporting their technical director in connection with reviewing the compliance of all their projects with the relevant requirements of the Building Regulations, at pre-planning and pre-construction stages.

Whilst the role requires working closely with and supporting our design teams, including participating in reviews of projects and site visits, it does not include working directly as part of a design team or undertaking any design work.

A 4 day work week is possible, as well as 1 day working from home.

No Visa sponsorship will be provided.
