9B Careers is working with a 10-person architectural practice based near Old Street, with a dedicated team of five working on the masterplanning side of the business.

The practice has an established portfolio of residential, masterplanning and commercial projects and is looking for an experienced Architect with strong UK masterplanning experience, particularly on larger residential schemes of around 200 homes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Architect who enjoys taking responsibility for projects and wants to play a key role within a small, close-knit team. This is an office-based vacancy.

The Role

You will work primarily on large-scale residential masterplanning projects, taking schemes through design development, planning and delivery.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Working on residential masterplans of approximately 200 homes.
  • Developing masterplans from early design through planning.
  • Taking responsibility for projects and coordinating the wider design team.
  • Preparing Design & Access Statements and planning documentation.
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, local authorities and other stakeholders.
  • Presenting schemes at planning and design review committees.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team.
  • Producing drawings and design information using AutoCAD.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Architect with approximately 5–15 years' experience, including:

  • Strong UK-based residential masterplanning experience.
  • Experience working on larger schemes of around 200 units.
  • Previous experience running projects and coordinating teams.
  • Strong understanding of the UK planning process.
  • Experience preparing Design & Access Statements.
  • Confidence presenting to clients, planning authorities and committees.
  • Strong AutoCAD skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach suited to a small practice.

The Opportunity

  • c.£45,000–£55,000, depending on experience.
