Our client is a small practice working on sizeable sporting and cultural events and venues, both permanent and temporary in nature. They are currently seeking an Architects (or Designer) with 5 years’ experience post qualification. You should have excellent design and critical thinking skills, a pro-active, can-do attitude, and be a great communicator. Experience of sports and events projects is an advantage but not essential. AutoCAD is keen and Revit beneficial. 

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Design and deliver considered solutions which meet stakeholder requirements.
  • Work effectively in a team, problem solve, and use their own judgement, think creatively, and work calmly under pressure.
  • Use a variety of media in the development and documentation of a design project.
  • Support the delivery of projects in collaboration with a project director, ensuring efficient planning and deployment of resources.
  • Be an effective communicator, with excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external team members.
  • Have excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Develop a real commitment to our studio culture and to act as an ambassador for the practice.

You will be able to demonstrate:

Project design and delivery skills:

  • Proven experience of working on the design and delivery of projects, ideally through all RIBA Stages.
  • Experience of producing graphic and written technical information of a high standard showing a thorough understanding of the importance of design at all scales.
  • The ability to successfully collaborate with teams and external bodies:
  • Comfortable with working in teams of all sizes, both internal and external.
  • Effective management and motivation of junior staff including a commitment to mentor and develop their skills.
  • Capable and confident in being able to effectively represent the practice, collaborating with clients, stakeholders, and consultants.

Technical skills:

  • An aptitude for technology and an interest in effecting new ways of representation and production, contributing to developing in house and external CPD activities and research.
  • Knowledge of current legislation relating to design and construction, including experience of the planning process and knowledge of current building regulations.
  • Understanding of contractual issues and practice liabilities.
