Recruiter Name Margarida Araujo

Our client is a large, award-winning and multi-disciplinary practice with a smaller branch in Oxford. They are currently looking for an experienced Conservation Architect with strong experience working on heritage and listed buildings. This person will play a leading role in projects that merge contemporary design with historic fabric, working on some well-recognised buildings across Oxford, Cambridge, and London.

Key Requirements:

  • Registered Architect (ARB)
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-part 2 professional experience in the UK
  • Experience working on listed buildings and within conservation areas
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate new design within historic contexts
  • Proficiency in Revit or Archicad
  • Strong design, coordination and communication skills

Role Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to design and delivery of adaptive reuse and new-build projects in heritage settings
  • Develop coordinated design information across RIBA stages
  • Support planning and listed building consent processes
  • Work closely with clients, consultants and local authorities

Desirable:

  • AABC accreditation, Register of Architects Accredited in Building Conservation (or working towards), or RIBA conservation accreditation (e.g. RIBA Conservation Register at any level)
  • Experience in heritage, higher education, cultural or institutional projects

Formal conservation accreditation is welcomed but not essential; relevant heritage project experience and a strong design approach are equally important.

This role suits an architect who values both the rigour of heritage work and the opportunity to shape contemporary architecture within complex, historically sensitive environments.
