Role Purpose:
To generate meaningful meetings for company directors and identify/develop new business opportunities. The aim is to bring in new projects and help grow the practice, freeing directors to focus on design and project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and target new clients and business sectors for the practice.
  • Set up and attend meetings with potential clients, developers, and key decision makers.
  • Develop relationships and maintain a pipeline of leads for the directors.
  • Represent the practice at industry events, networking functions, and sector-specific meetings.
  • Collaborate with directors to refine business development strategy and support growth initiatives, including possible acquisitions.
  • Monitor performance against targets and report on new business generated.
  • Where acquisition opportunities arise, support directors in negotiations, due diligence, and integration of acquired practices.

Requirements/Experience:

  • Demonstrable ability to “sell the practice” and secure relevant meetings/projects.
  • Sales/B2B development experience; prior experience in the architecture, construction, or property development sectors is highly valued but not essential.
  • Excellent networking, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, comfortable with a target-driven role.
  • Open to varied working arrangements (from regular employment to consultancy or fractional involvement).

Bonuses/Commission:
Commission is paid on successful project wins

Additional Notes:

  • Role not restricted to candidates from architectural backgrounds—focus is on ability to build business.
  • Flexible work location; not necessarily office-based.
  • Ideal for those who thrive in a role where results (meetings, new project opportunities) are clearly linked to rewards.
  • Directors are seeking to professionalize the sales process and move away from having senior architects do business development as a side responsibility.

Employment Type: Open to full-time, part-time, consultancy, or non-executive director-style role
Compensation: Base salary in the £50,000 range, with commission potentially increasing total compensation towards £80,000. Commission is tied to successful project wins.
