9B is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager at Associate / Associate Director level to join a high-performing Cities Project Leadership team, supporting the delivery of major, complex infrastructure and urban development projects across the UK and internationally.

This is a senior, project-focused role within an established leadership environment, offering the opportunity to work on large-scale, multidisciplinary projects with significant commercial and technical complexity.

The Role

You will play a key role within project leadership teams, ensuring projects are commercially robust, well-governed, and delivered to a high technical standard.

Working closely with Project Directors and multidisciplinary teams, you will take ownership of the commercial, financial, and operational performance of projects or key workstreams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee commercial, financial, and technical performance across projects or defined packages
  • Lead project planning activities, including programme, budgeting, risk, and change management
  • Provide clear commercial direction to internal delivery teams
  • Engage with client-side commercial teams on variations, compensation events, and risk
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand and manage the impact of change
  • Support bidding and work-winning activity, including commercial input to proposals
  • Manage and procure sub-consultants and supply chain partners
  • Contribute to the development of junior team members and wider commercial capability
  • Act as a key representative to clients and project stakeholders

About You

You will be an experienced commercial or project leader with a strong track record in delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects.

Typically, you will have:

  • Experience working on major infrastructure or urban development projects (e.g. urban realm, highways, utilities)
  • Strong commercial management and project leadership experience
  • A solid understanding of technical engineering or construction environments
  • Experience managing large, multidisciplinary teams and project delivery frameworks
  • Proven ability in risk management, change control, and commercial negotiations
  • Experience supporting bids, fee proposals, and client engagement
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and clients
