9B Careers is working with an internationally recognised architecture and design practice to appoint an experienced Senior Commercial Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly creative, multidisciplinary studio delivering landmark projects across architecture, interiors, landscape and the built environment.
Working closely with senior leadership, business development, legal and project teams, you'll play a key role in shaping the commercial success of the practice—supporting the pursuit of new work, negotiating contracts and ensuring projects are commercially robust from bid stage through to delivery.
This position would suit someone who combines strong commercial acumen with an understanding of the design and construction industry and enjoys working within a collaborative, design-led environment.
The Role
As Senior Commercial Manager, you'll lead the commercial evaluation of new opportunities while supporting the successful mobilisation and commercial management of projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting senior leadership with the commercial assessment of new opportunities.
- Developing commercial strategies for bids, tenders and project extensions.
- Reviewing client briefs, RFPs and tender documentation.
- Preparing project financial models, fee proposals and resource forecasts.
- Working alongside project teams to establish project scope, programmes and staffing requirements.
- Collaborating with legal teams to review and negotiate consultancy agreements.
- Supporting fee negotiations and commercial discussions with clients.
- Preparing mobilisation plans, commercial assumptions and bid submissions.
- Maintaining accurate commercial data, forecasting and benchmarking information.
- Ensuring contracts are fully executed and appropriately recorded.
- Producing clear summaries of contractual obligations for project teams.
- Identifying opportunities to improve commercial processes and reporting.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys balancing commercial thinking with collaborative problem-solving.
You'll ideally have:
- At least five years' experience within a Commercial Manager or similar commercial role.
- Previous experience working within architecture, engineering, design consultancy or the wider built environment.
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial analysis skills.
- Strong experience preparing fee proposals, commercial submissions and resource forecasts.
- A solid understanding of consultancy contracts and commercial risk management.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
- A collaborative approach and the confidence to work across multidisciplinary teams.
Additional language skills, particularly Mandarin, Cantonese or other international languages, would be advantageous but are by no means essential.
Why Apply?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a globally respected design practice working on some of the industry's most exciting projects.
You'll become part of a collaborative, creative environment where commercial expertise is highly valued and where you'll work closely with senior decision makers, influencing the commercial success of projects from the earliest stages.
The practice is committed to investing in its people through ongoing professional development, technical training and genuine long-term career progression.
If you're an experienced Commercial Manager looking to take the next step within a design-led organisation, we'd love to hear from you.
